Bengal Warriors - SEASON 3 to Remember

Star Sports Pro Kabaddi has recently in buzz with the tremendous supports the sport has gathered in the country after cricket. Excitement, drama, charismatic style of play, and shorter version of the games has caught the attention of all. Kabaddi - India's very own sports was at the top where it was supposed to be. Lost in glory in past, an initiative by mashal sports and star sports has revived this sports of India to its NEW height.

8 franchisee owned from 8 different cities - likes of Jaipur and Mumbai - being supported by Bollywood stars gained momentum soon in the country - U Mumba emerged as unstoppable team for both season 1 - 2, after losing in Season 1 finale to Abhishek Bachchan Jaipur PINK PANTHER. Season 2 - U Mumba emerged as CHAMPIONS

I am extremely happy  and proud to be a Sports Physiotherapist for U Mumba for both the season. Despite Suffering major injuries to team star players,  Mumba, showed an Extraordinary Game to be on the top. Likes of Anup Kumar, Jeeva Kumar and Shabeer Bapu was deadly trio to make U Mumba the CHAMPION Team.

however Team Like Bengal Warriors and Delhi Dabanng were seems struggling in all 2 seasons.

after achieving the accolades, it was time to check how other teams are being functioning and how Fit other teams are. Bengal Warriors in both season were suffering from Injuries and lost many important player in their crucial games.

It was the time for me to decide to move on the bottom most team and give your valuable services in form of physical therapy and fitness to the athletes who has been struggling in these 2 teams from Injuries and Make them comeback with highest fitness level in the camp.

I QUIT  - U Mumba CAMP and Joined Bengal Warriors in Season 3 as Head Physical Therapist cum performance enhancement specialist. Training camp was in bangalore- SAI.  facility in SAI was upto the mark with indoor stadium suitable for kabaddi style,  latest facility available at arena.

we divided our season in specific duration to get the best from the team in increasing the physical fitness, prevention of injuries and giving functional training as the camp was for 45 days. we focussed on each player position and gave them the functional training apt for their position

The camp preparation were as follows

Preseason Training for Bengal Warriors - Season 3

Bengal Warriors Started the preseason camp well 45 days ahead of the inaugural match of Season 3.

we have divided the training in three phases, each phase comprises to be of 15 days

we have evaluated all players toward their medical screening prior to training along with their individual body composition analysis measurements.

Medical Screening : Body checkup for all general test.

Body Composition analysis measurement includes parameters like calculating individual players BMI, BMR, Fat Percentage, Subcutaneous Fat, Total Body Water, Calcium, Skeletal Muscle Mass etc

Fitness Training were focussed on fitness parameters required for elite kabaddi players to enhance the performance

1. Aerobic Endurance
2. Anaerobic Endurance
3. Speed + Agility
4. Flexibilty
5. Explosive Power
6. Strength

Training were divided into 3 phases ( 15 days each)  - once in a day, usually in morning for 2 hrs including warmup and cool down

1. FIRST Phase: included Endurance training with Flexibility Component :

Endurance training was basically an interval Training 
  1. (physical training consisting of alternating periods of high- and low-intensity activity.)
where the players were made to run on soft surface (pref grass) for 45 min, accompanied with Warm up sessions which includes (exercises + dynamics Stretches) 

Cool Down session with Relaxation Exercises + Static Stetches


2. Phase 2 (15days) - (Combination of Strength + Power + Speed)

Strength Training were usually weight training in gym focussing on muscles usually required in kabaddi. Exercises and Muscle workload were divided depending upon what position does the play play

Ex - for Defender  - need Static Power + Explosive Force, concentrating on lower limb musculature 

Raider - combination of Static + Dynamic power 

Weight Training includes workout with 

Free Weight  - for Group Muscles
Theraband - for Individual muscles
Medicine ball workout - pref for core exercises
Flex bar - Grip stregnth
Proprioception Disc - Balance training


3. Phase 3 - 15 days (Functional training + plyometric training)

Functional Training comprises of exercise training basically replication the movement used while playing kabaddi
Functional training helps provide you with the strength, stability, power, mobility, endurance and flexibility
we used basic functional movement patterns like pushing, pulling, hinging, squatting, rotating, carrying and  gait patterns (walking and running) every day. 

Functional training utilizes exercises that improve your movement proficiency in these primary patterns to give you an edge and enhance your performance.

plyometric exercises uses explosive power training Performing plyometrics one to three times a week  increase athlete's vertical jump, speed and strength

RECOVERY from Fitness Training were performed with the help of 
ICE BATH (thrice a week) for 7 - 10min 
Protein Supplementation
Vitamins Supplementation
Amino Acid Tab
ZMA Tab
and Sports Massage (once a week)

BENGAL Warriors was the first team to enter SEMI FINAL in SEASON 3, however we finished 4 in the table.
NITIN TOMAR was emerged as one of the star player for the SIDE.
